AN ARTFUL STORY.
“FRAGMENTS OF LIFE - NO. 47”
I like to think my artwork holds pieces of untold stories, scraps of a life, a fleeting encounter, a missed conversation stitched into paint and glued onto a canvas. This mixed media piece plays like an old film reel for anyone who’s ever felt an almost-love, and wondered what lingers after. An original abstract artwork laced with a story for the dreamers and the in-between places.
They spontaneously met somewhere between Florence and Paris.
He had deep circles under his eyes,
the kind that come from too much thinking and too little sleep.
She gestured in wide, fluid strokes when she spoke,
as if painting her point in the air.
The conversation looped for hours.
About time.
Mistakes. Dreams. Another life.
What it means to belong in more than one place.
Your heart beating for the life you almost chose.
On repeat. Over and over again.
He mindlessly traced the rim of his cup with his index finger.
She paced the worn tile floor before abruptly leaving.
Regret settled into the room.
Words floated in the air, unfinished.
When she walked away, he kept a few of her things…
stitched scraps,
frayed fabric,
torn pages,
worn paintings,
the number 47.
The black hollow circles remained.
Not as symbols.
But as the shape their encounter left behind.
